Andy Cohen defends Sarah Jessica Parker following Kim Cattrall diss
The Watch What Happens Live host is team SJP.
On Monday, Feb. 12, 2018, Andy Cohen weighed in on the ongoing drama between former Sex and the City co-stars Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker during his SiriusXM show Andy Cohen Live — and he had no qualms about picking sides.
“I thought it was fake,” he began, regarding Cattrall’s recent social media attack, in which she called Parker “cruel” (via Entertainment Tonight). “I was like, ‘There’s no way Kim Cattrall has posted this on her Instagram.’ This is a woman who is in the middle of grieving the loss of her brother, which is tragic and sad.”
“I was thinking about it over the weekend and I was like, ‘Well, [SJP] follows Kim on Instagram, Kim posted about her brother dying and she expressed her condolences in a comment…like, one line, that’s it,” Cohen, 49, continued. “I would not call that exploiting a tragedy. What was she supposed to do? Say something bad? I don’t understand.”
He added, “I also don’t like it that people are characterizing this as a catfight. There’s only one person fighting here.”
As Nicki Swift previously reported, Cattrall, 61, slammed Parker, 52, on Instagram over the weekend after Parker offered support to her former SATC co-star, whose brother, Chris, was recently found dead in Lacombe, Alberta.
“My Mom asked me today ‘When will that @sarahjessicaparker, that hypocrite, leave you alone?'” Cattrall captioned a text-post which read, “I don’t need your love or support at this tragic time @sarahjessicaparker.”
“Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now,” she added. “Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven’t already) You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your ‘nice girl’ persona.”
The actresses’ alleged feud was refueled last September after Parker revealed that the third SATC movie was canceled. At the time, reports circulated that everyone was on board apart from Cattrall, who later insisted she and Parker “were never friends.”
At the time of this writing, Parker has yet to publicly comment on the latest diss.
